![]() The purpose of MathType is to help users format mathematical equations. MathType for Windows is compatible with Windows 7 or newer as well as Microsoft Office 2007 or newer. By collaborating with these desktop applications, you can quickly add equations and formulas onto your documents. It is also integrated with other office and productivity software like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint, and Apple Pages. This means you can directly enter various mathematical markup languages such as TeX, LaTeX, and MathML. The graphical editor is used only for creating mathematical equations in a full graphical What You See Is What You Get or WYSIWYG environment. Screen shot below is from Windows, but it's the same in Mac.MathType is an educational desktop program developed by Design Science. Note this is not on the MathType tab in Word it is in MathType itself. If you'd prefer not to see these, either click the Don't show me this again checkbox in the message, or uncheck the Show Tips command on the MathType on the Web sub-menu of the Help menu. If there isn't a newer version of MathType available, the version check may occasionally display information about other Wiris products that have been released. This command is in MathType Help menu, under MathType on the Web. If you want to check more often, manually choose the Check for Latest Version Now… command whenever you want to check for a newer version. MathType will normally perform this check once a month. ![]() After checking the version, a dialog will be displayed letting you know the results of the comparison.
